CSUMB Employee Housing, Inc. (CEHI) is a single-purpose auxiliary of CSUMB that oversees the rental program, and the construction, financing, sales, and re-sales of the for-sale program, plus the community/property management. CEHI, as an independently managed auxiliary, insures objective and autonomous operation of the programs. Governance is provided by a nine-member Board of Directors comprised of faculty, staff, student, homeowner and community representatives.

Mission Statement

The mission of CEHI is to create a fair and resource-efficient program to:

• Enhance employee productivity and quality of life by providing workplace-convenient, continuously affordable ownership housing, particularly to those in nationally recruited positions who may otherwise be deterred from coming to the university because of high local housing costs.
• Flexibly support the university's evolving needs.
• Foster an attractive, culturally diverse, stable, quality university-community-in-residence that allows relocating homeowners to purchase on campus and promotes employee retention, interrelations between employees and with the university community at large, and greater participation in campus affairs.
• Keep the benefits of the housing asset available to the university and its future employees, using procedures that are easy to administer and provide for owner input into decision-making.
• Provide some opportunity for move-up options and transitional housing.
• As much as possible in light of other goals, further relations with the university's collaborative partners and promote local recruiting.
