The Neighbors

Five miles to the south, Seaside's Black Horse and Bayonet golf courses offer championship caliber golf. A little further south, Seaside and Sand City provide quick access to large discount outlets and smaller boutique retailing.

Fifteen minutes to the south, Monterey Peninsula Airport accommodates over 30 flights per day.

Ten minutes southwest you will find the cities of Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, and Carmel offering world-class recreational and dining delights as well as attractions such as Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium which draw millions of tourists each year.

Just to the north of Schoonover Park, the City of Marina provides easy access for daily shopping and personal business. Fifteen minutes further up Highway 1 you will discover the Elkhorn Slough National Reserve, a protected saltwater estuary meeting the Pacific Ocean in natural splendor. Another fifteen-minute drive north brings you to the coastal town of Santa Cruz, home of UC Santa Cruz and Shakespeare Santa Cruz.

Directly to the east of Schoonover Park, the agricultural abundance of the Salinas Valley gives way to the historic city of Salinas where the National Steinbeck Center pays tribute to the town's most famous son.
