BIO-PLASTICS

Bioplastics: Plastic Bags and Spoons

We have also sought out other wholesale distributors specializing in packaging supplies for retail, industrial, and food service applications.~They offer a full line of environmentally sensitive~and recycled products, including biodegradable and compostable products ranging from packaging supplies and garbage bags to cups, food containers, and cutlery that are 100% compostable. They provide us with plastics and paper products made from crop waste i.e. corn, bamboo, potato, and soy products.

These recycled items reduce CO2 emissions. We are also working directly with Na-tur products distributor of Cereplast. Cereplast has developed a breakthrough technology to produce proprietary bio-based resins, which are used as substitutes for conventional, petroleum-based plastics in a variety of applications, including the manufacture of food service items such as utensils, plates, cups, and straws.~ Made from renewable resources such as corn and potato starch, Cereplast resins are bio-based, biodegradable and compostable and have comparable or superior performance characteristics to conventional plastics, and are sold at prices that are competitive with conventional plastics.

Cereplast is a breakthrough new material made with a proprietary process.~ Cereplast resins incorporate several natural ingredients in their composition, including:

  • Starch derived from cornstarch, wheat starch or potato starch. The starch is processed industrially and used by Cereplast in its formulation.
  • Poly Lactic Acid, PLA a material generated from the corn dextrose (sugars), fermented then processed into lactide then polymerized into PLA.
  • Other materials; Cereplast also includes minerals and other biodegradable components to insure the physical properties required for the various applications.

PAPER & BAGASSE PRODUCTS

We have made sure to use only dioxin free paper for paper towels and consumer napkins in all of our venues.

What does Dioxin free mean?

It's the removal of chlorine bleaching in the process of manufacturing paper products; thereby, not subjecting the environment to the effects of chlorine vapors and chemicals. Click here to learn more. We are also using another material from sugar cane that is used as a resin for plates and bowls; it is referred to as Bagasse.

What is Bagasse?

The dry, fibrous residue remaining after the extraction of juice from the crushed stalks of sugar cane, used as a source of cellulose for some paper products.
